Welcome to Great Expectations Daylilies 2026!

We started Great Expectations Daylilies 15 years ago with a mission to provide high-quality daylily plants  to our community. With our passion for daylilies and our extensive knowledge of these amazing plants, we have been able to help people  turn their gardens into beautiful outdoor spaces.

In our catalog you will see the characterists of each individual plant listed below the plant name. A list explaining the abbreviations can  be found in the Downloads Section which is the final section of this website.

Growing Daylilies is our hobby!  We also hybridize modern hybrid daylilies. Great Expectations Daylilies is the name of our garden and we are always happy to share our knowledge.  Our garden is an official American Daylily Society (ADS) Display Garden and is at our private residence. We are also members of the Ohio Daylily Society (ODS).  We are not a retail business or a commercial garden. Please contact us in advance through our website to arrange a visit to the garden.

Although daylilies begin blooming in NE Ohio gardens at the end of June and continue to bloom and rebloom through September, peak time in our area is typically the second or third week in July.

We keep our Display Garden looking fresh by adding new daylily varieties, creating new seedlings, and reducing our plant clumps by dividing and offering plant divisions to daylily enthusiasts. These unique plants are hardy in NE Ohio and are currently not offered at commercial locations.

We are not a commercial garden or a retail business, we are daylily hobbyists. We can ship plants within the continental US with a minimum order of $100 plus the cost of shipping. We begin accepting orders in January and will acknowledge your order via e-mail. We will reserve your plants for you over the winter months. Once the snow has melted and the ground warms up, we will contact you and officially confirm availability of the plants you requested and notify you of the cost of shipping. We typically include a free plant of our choosing to help cover the shipping cost. Payment is due once your order has been confirmed. We accept personal checks or money orders for payment. We do not accept credit cards. 

Plants are sold as two bare root blooming size fans unless otherwise indicated. We typically begin to ship plants in mid-May and do not ship plants after August 31.

We currently grow over 750 different modern daylily varieties and have lots of seedings on display. As our plants grow and increase, we are happy to dig and divide plants for sale to garden visitors from our rust-free garden. If you have looked at our catalog and have chosen some plants you would like to add to your garden it is helpful to pre-order those plants and pick them up at the time of your visit. 

It’s easy to arrange a plant pickup! Download our picture catalog with pricing from our website. Send us an inquiry using our website contact form or email including a list of the plants you are interested in. We will contact you via email with plant availability and arrange a convenient day and time for pickup and visiting our garden in Montville, Ohio (Geauga County). You are welcome to walk through the garden and add plants to your list and we will dig those plants while you wait.
